Why does Kandıra feel different?
This district of Kocaeli stayed outside the main holiday routes for years. Away from dense hotel strips and beach noise, it moves at its own pace among villages, forests and lakeside scenery. That is why we chose to establish Velvet Kandıra here: a small number of rooms by the lake, each thoughtfully considered.
Our approach is that of a boutique hotel, rather than a large resort or rows of identical bungalows. Breakfast features village produce whenever possible, and reception and the lobby offer a warm welcome.
What makes a bungalow “luxurious”?
It is a much-used word. Here is what it means to us:
- A direct lakefront setting. Yakamoz and Zümrüt are 32 m² bungalows right by the water.
- A private heated pool. Your own pool, with no sharing.
- A fireplace and fire pit. Evenings around a fire overlooking the lake.
- A thoughtfully designed bathroom and WC. A small detail that says a great deal about the quality of a stay.
- Breakfast included.
The lake-view İnci Suite is another option, with 40 m² of space. It has no pool, but offers a spacious living area and fireplace.

Every destination has its own appeal. Sapanca is known for access and lake views, while Şile and Ağva offer a coastal atmosphere. If your wish is an unhurried weekend for two away from crowds, consider adding Kandıra to your list.
