What City Life Made Us Forget: Picking Tomatoes in a Field

OCTOBER 2026 — By velvet

Many people raised in the city have never seen vegetables growing in the soil. We know a supermarket tomato has a stem, branches and roots, but that knowledge often stays distant.

At Velvet Kandıra, we wanted to bring that experience closer.

The farm setting

Beside the accommodation is a small working farm with geese, chickens, ducks, roosters, cows, cats and dogs. This is a working farm rather than a zoo: the animals live here, and you walk among them.

Why is it so enjoyable?

Perhaps it is the feeling of doing something with your hands and touching the soil. Or perhaps it is having no obligation to do anything at all. A holiday without a to-do list can be deeply relaxing.

A small note

Confirm activity dates, capacity and fees when booking.
